Anyone have an extra spot or two for tomorrow? My friend could go either way on participating, but I've got my heart set on it. Otherwise I'll have to go without an Urban Iditarod this year, and that will break my heart. I contribute booze, whimsy, and my inimitable joie de vivre. More of the first one.

Park Service hit us with a $1000 cleanup bond for a permit. And the shear number of attendees (1000+) means we have to rent 3 carts this year. In order for Urban Iditarod to continue we must show the SFPD and Park Service that we are organized and can be trusted to maintain this event as it continues to grow. That means more expenses and more help. It breaks my heart to do this, but the alternative is the end of a great event.

From the organizers of Urban Golf and the Urban Iditarod comes: KITE FIGHT! Flying pretty kites at Chrissy Fields is for sissies, the 9.8th Fighting Kite Brigade challenges you to a kite duel.

Do not bring a quality kite as we are attaching razor blades and nails to the kite and dueling in the skies! We recommend you bring a craptastic plastic kite and some razor blades or whatever weaponry you see fit. I recommend getting kites at Cliff's Variety in the Castro.

If you're not in a fighting mood come down, fly kites with us and soaking in the best view of the city.

Venue:
Bernal Hill Park
Top of the hill at the big antenna thingy

Is that about the gist of it??
I kind of missed hanging out in Washington Square Park and the other locations, getting to know the people on the other teams, but it was cool that the race was over by 230p when it was still bright and sunny, and we got to spend as long as we wanted at Ft. Mason.

I've been running Urban Golf for 4 years now, so I'm used to smooth talking cops and bartendars. If anyone wants to do the walkthrough with me in Mid-Feb, drop me a line.

Also this year to help pace the race, I'm going to rent one of those tourist buggies you see zipping through N. Beach. I figure I'd just pass a hat around for donations to help offset the ~$110 cost.

I'm also considering dropping the first stop. Most folks don't buy drinks from the first bar, everyone has a full cart so the first pubs always feel jacked. I think Irish Bank hated us because they had a tub of iced booze being sold out the side door and no one was hitting them up. So it seemed like a waste.

Also anyone who helps has to be part of the apology team. The cops who offered to lead the procession didn't have a map so they didn't know to stop at Caesars. Caesars had free food and extra help and we went right by them. So boot licking is a must.
