I've done the SF and NYC versions. I do have to say, the SF version is a BREEZE compared to running across the brooklyn bridge when its zero degrees out and youre trying to wear a costume and there are people dressed like butchers flailing cleavers and hurling raw meat at you. -

Apparently, this year's SF Iditarod (2005) was totally inundated with them, and they rushed and funneled the group and didn't allow for rest stops. And they would never allow anything like your cart pile to happen, which looks freakin' hilarious.

Tue, September 27, 2005 - 12:45 PMBasically, the police just arent notified of the route or the date. Rest stops are in bars (that are overflowing). At which time my team will zip tie everyones carts to eachother so we can get a head start.
Oh yes, the cart pile. Um, we got in trouble for that one.

Tue, September 27, 2005 - 3:18 PMI remember there being plenty of rest stops during the run. I know teams that were lagging didn't have much rest time. As far as cops though there were plenty, but they mostly seemed to be "protecting" us from causing too much trouble with real traffic. -

I had a blast regardless, but in '04 the rest stops were like a half hour each and it was pretty fun. ...Although in '05 once we got to the finish area there was much more time left for mayhem. We were all pretty loaded by then.
What's the date of both SF and NYC this year? -
